With a miniature PID detector, micro preconcentrator and micro GC column with temperature ramping capabilities, the FROG 4000 packs laboratory GC capabilities into a 4.8 pound instrument. These outstanding features of the FROG 4000 provide the user with benefits specifically designed for field analysis while maintaining project goals previously only achieved in a laboratory setting:
Instrument portability allows the user to analyze samples on site, reducing or eliminating the need to send samples to a lab and experience a lengthy wait for sample data
A micro preconcentrator, coated with a specialized nanomaterial contains an integrated heater that is used for thermal desorption for sample collection
An additional integrated heater in the micro GC column (4.8 meter or optional 2.5 meter column) allows for temperature ramp chromatography that enhances separation of compounds that elute off the column slower while also reducing analysis times
Air flow is controlled through the system by valves and a miniature pump; parameters have been preprogrammed into the FROG's software and can be modified by the user in order to optimize analysis time and separation of compounds for a specific application through the Ellvin™ software
